Antibody which recognises human histone H2B. H2B is one of the four core histone proteins which make up the protein core of the nucleosome around which DNA is wound to form the basic unit of chromatin. H2B, like other histone proteins is highly conserved across species with even distantly related species having high levels of sequence homology. Post translational modifications of histones such as H2B by acetylation, phosphorylation and ubiquitination can affect the organisation of the chromatin and gene transcription. There are 16 isoforms of H2B in humans, 13 that are expressed in somatic cells, and 3 that are testis-specific.
